The range above is an indicative planning figure taken from our own research, not a quotation and not an offer. buytogethr is pre-launch and has closed no pools.

What you are actually buying

At institutional scale this is hundreds of near-identical assemblies: pans, basins, urinals, cisterns or flush valves, taps and mixers, health faucets, traps, wastes and accessories — together with the concealed items that are built into the wall and cannot be reconsidered later. Quotes differ on the ceramic body and glaze, flush volume and mechanism, whether the concealed body and the visible trim belong to the same range, the cartridge inside the mixer, the finish, and how the warranty separates the ware from the moving parts. The mistake that costs most is selecting on the visible fitting alone, and then mixing ranges floor by floor so the maintenance store has to carry several families of cartridges and seals.

Why sanitaryware suits collective purchasing

Sanitaryware sits in a later phase for us, and it is worth saying why rather than claiming everything pools equally. Competition among manufacturers and distributors is already intense and the ticket is modest, so a group is buying standardisation and supply reliability at least as much as bargaining position. It works where the requirement is large and repetitive — a hospital block, a hostel, a hotel refit — and where an institution commits to a single approved range across every floor. At that scale a manufacturer has reason to quote as it would to a project account. Below it, the gain is real but modest, and we would rather say so.

Pin down before price

  • One approved range per institution, with concealed bodies and visible trim specified as a pair
  • Flush volume and mechanism, and the water pressure range every fitting must perform across
  • Cartridge and seal types named, with spare availability committed in writing
  • Finish specified against the local water quality and the cleaning regime it will meet
  • Accessibility fittings where required: grab bars, mounting heights and clearances

What drives ten-year cost

  • Cartridges, seals and flush mechanisms across hundreds of units, not the ware itself
  • Water drawn per flush and per tap over the building's occupancy
  • Range continuity: a discontinued concealed body turns a small repair into breaking open a wall

How a pool for this runs

1
Aggregate the demand. Institutions register a requirement and a timeline. Nothing is committed and nothing is paid — the pool simply establishes how much demand exists in one window.
2
Standardise the specification. One technical specification is written for the pooled requirement, so every bidder quotes the same machine. Clinical and engineering specification is never traded away for price.
3
Qualify the suppliers. OEMs and authorised distributors are qualified on manufacturer authorisation, past performance, end-user certificates, financials and demonstration — before any price is opened.
4
Run the price competition. Only technically qualified bidders enter an online reverse auction, with a minimum decrement and automatic extension so the close cannot be sniped.
5
Award on ten-year cost. Lowest is judged on total cost of ownership over ten years — machine, turnkey, software, accessories, transport, insurance, taxes, warranty, maintenance contract, tubes, uptime and training.
6
Buy directly, individually. Each institution raises its own purchase order against the negotiated price and pays the OEM or dealer directly. buytogethr never takes title, never holds stock and never holds your money.
