~1,000 bought yearly in AP; pooled into one manufacturer negotiation.
The range above is an indicative planning figure taken from our own research, not a quotation and not an offer. buytogethr is pre-launch and has closed no pools.
A school is buying a body built on a chassis and finished to the rules that govern school transport: seating, emergency exit, speed limiter, first aid, extinguisher and the required livery and markings. The chassis and the body-builder's work are frequently quoted separately, and registration and first-year insurance separately again. Quotes vary on seating capacity and whether it is counted in child or adult seats, wheelbase, body fit-out such as grab rails, window bars, flooring and driver's partition, and on whether tracking and cameras are included or fitted later. Two errors recur: matching the bus to today's route rather than the route in three years, and comparing an ex-showroom chassis price against a fully built, registered vehicle.
This is the founder's own worked example. Around a thousand school buses are purchased each year in Andhra Pradesh by private schools, institutions and transport operators, and nearly every one is negotiated alone with a manufacturer's authorised distributor. The requirement standardises well, since capacity, body and safety fit-out are largely set by regulation; the buyers are easy to identify; and they mostly buy inside the same pre-session window. The manufacturer side is concentrated enough to be brought into direct competition. Aggregation also buys what one school cannot ask for: an identical specification across a fleet, common warranty terms, and a service commitment near the schools.
