What you are actually buying

A labour room delivery table is a frame, a sectional mattress and a set of accessories, and the accessories are where quotes separate. Height adjustment may be hydraulic or electric; the leg section may lift away or fold under; Trendelenburg, backrest articulation and lithotomy positioning vary; and leg holders, drainage tray, IV pole and mattress are sometimes inside the price and sometimes beside it. Frames come in stainless steel or coated mild steel, which is not a cosmetic distinction in a room cleaned several times a day. The usual error is buying on frame price alone. What fails in service is the mattress seam, the sealing of the section joints and the drainage arrangement, under repeated disinfection rather than under load.

Why delivery table suits collective purchasing

This pools cleanly. The specification is short and stable, clinical opinion about it is limited, there is no software and little service content, and manufacture is largely domestic, so several suppliers can be qualified on documents and a sample rather than a long evaluation. Every maternity unit needs at least one table and most need several, so a modest number of institutions produces a quantity worth quoting against. Because the machine content is low, the pooled contract should carry accessories, mattresses, freight and installation together — otherwise those are quoted afterwards, to each institution separately, at its own bargaining strength.

Pin down before price

  • Frame material and grade, stainless steel or coated, stated explicitly
  • Height adjustment method and the working range at both ends
  • Accessories inside the price: leg holders, drainage tray, IV pole, mattress
  • Mattress material, seam sealing and compatibility with the disinfectants used

What drives ten-year cost

  • Mattress and upholstery replacement, the first thing to wear out
  • Hydraulic or actuator servicing, and whether those parts are held in India
  • Accessories bought later at single-unit prices if left out of the contract

How a pool for this runs

1
Aggregate the demand. Institutions register a requirement and a timeline. Nothing is committed and nothing is paid — the pool simply establishes how much demand exists in one window.
2
Standardise the specification. One technical specification is written for the pooled requirement, so every bidder quotes the same machine. Clinical and engineering specification is never traded away for price.
3
Qualify the suppliers. OEMs and authorised distributors are qualified on manufacturer authorisation, past performance, end-user certificates, financials and demonstration — before any price is opened.
4
Run the price competition. Only technically qualified bidders enter an online reverse auction, with a minimum decrement and automatic extension so the close cannot be sniped.
5
Award on ten-year cost. Lowest is judged on total cost of ownership over ten years — machine, turnkey, software, accessories, transport, insurance, taxes, warranty, maintenance contract, tubes, uptime and training.
6
Buy directly, individually. Each institution raises its own purchase order against the negotiated price and pays the OEM or dealer directly. buytogethr never takes title, never holds stock and never holds your money.
