Automated instrument washing ahead of sterilization in CSSD.
The range above is an indicative planning figure taken from our own research, not a quotation and not an offer. buytogethr is pre-launch and has closed no pools.
This is the automated cleaning and thermal disinfection stage that sits ahead of sterilisation. The institution buys a chamber with a given number of levels, the carriers that hold each kind of load, a detergent dosing system and the water treatment that feeds the final rinse. Quotes differ on capacity in trays, programme list, the disinfection value achieved, single or pass-through doors, and whether drying and rinse water treatment are inside the price. Carriers are the usual blind spot: a cabinet without an injector rack cannot clean lumened laparoscopic instruments, and container or anaesthesia carriers are separately priced. Omitting the treated rinse water supply is the other frequent error, since instrument staining and the validated result both depend on it.
It pools reasonably well. The specification is technical, buyers are numerous, and the machine is bought so rarely that few hospitals have any negotiating experience with it - which is precisely where an aggregated process earns its place. The caveat is that carriers follow each institution's surgical mix, so the pooled specification should cover the chamber, disinfection performance, water treatment and service terms, with carriers selected individually against agreed line-item prices. Detergent chemistry should be priced in the same process, because it is a continuing commitment made at the moment the machine is chosen.
